Chiropractic, Osteopathy, or Physiotherapy: Which One Should You See?

If you are dealing with back pain, joint stiffness, or an annoying ache that just won't go away, you have probably asked yourself: Should I see a chiropractor, an osteopath, or a physiotherapist?
It is one of the most common questions we get asked, and for good reason! All three professions help pain by improving overall movement, to help you get back to feeling your best.
Same Goal, Different Pathways
Each discipline approaches your health and goals through slightly different techniques and toolkits based on their area of speciality and expertise.
Chiropractors & Osteopaths: The Hands-On Structural Experts
Both osteopaths and chiropractors focus on helping your body heal naturally and getting you moving comfortably again. Both use gentle, hands-on techniques and adjustments
The main difference lies in their core focus:
Chiropractors focus heavily on the quality of movement in your spine and joints, and how they are impacting your nervous system. By reducing joint restriction and easing irritation around the spinal nerves, chiropractic care aims to restore smooth communication between your brain and the rest of your body, as well as improve overall mobility.
Osteopaths focuses on impaired function of body systems (such as fascia, blood flow and lymphatic drainage) and the effect this has on the musculoskeletal system. They tend to look broadly at how structural strain in one area might be affecting fluid dynamics and muscle tension elsewhere in the system and what effect this may be having on the body's ability to heal itself.
Because everyone’s body is unique, some people find they respond better to an osteopath's approach, while others prefer a chiropractor's adjustment. It often comes down to personal preference, although we do have patients who see both because of how the cross body approaches complement each other to promote the body's overall healing and wellbeing.
Physiotherapists: The Movement & Rehabilitation Specialists

Physiotherapists are experts in targeted rehabilitation techniques, active exercise plans, and soft tissue methods to rebuild your physical strength, mobility, and long-term resilience.
Rather than focusing on manual joint adjustments as a primary tool, a physiotherapist works closely with your muscular system to retrain movement patterns—making them ideal for post-surgery recovery and rehabilitation alongside chiropractic care.

The Ultimate Dream Team: Why Chiropractic and Physio Work Together
Because these modalities target different aspects of your anatomy, you don't always have to choose just one. In fact, chiropractic and physiotherapy work brilliantly together as a complementary team.
Think of it this way:
The Chiropractor works on restoring joint motion and reducing nerve irritation.
The Physiotherapist works on strengthening and retraining the specific muscles those newly liberated nerves are controlling!
We collaborate with many local physios sharing (with consent) clinical information to ensure ongoing communication and teamwork to help achieve their goals.
