CHIROPRACTIC CARE IN PREGNANY
The female body undergoes a number of hormonal and physical changes throughout the nine months of term. Changes to ligament laxity, posture and weight distribution can put additional stress and loads on the spinal and pelvic joints.
The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists recommend a multi-modal care approach to pregnancy-related back and pelvic pain including chiropractic manipulative therapy, exercises and lifestyle modifications.
Literature shows that chiropractic care has a significant role in the management of musculoskeletal symptoms associated with pregnancy. The aim of treatment is to address postural alignment, maintain symmetrical body mechanics and ensure normal joint motion.
We use modified techniques, as well as aids and cushions to maximise comfort during your care.

PAEDIATRIC CHIROPRACTIC
We support patients of all ages including new-borns and children.
During the examination we will look at the infant's development, fascial tension and ranges of movement in the cranial (head) bones and spine, and the effect any tightness or dysfunction may have on neurological function.
Our paediatric adjustments are very different to the classic pop and cracks seen in adults! We use gentle manual stretch and relaxation techniques on developing joints. We will talk you through our findings and any subsequent treatment and always welcome questions throughout care.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Is Chiropractic Safe?
Chiropractic is generally very safe when performed correctly by a trained and registered Chiropractor. Information from your medical history and examination allows your Chiropractor to determine whether you have any pre-existing medical conditions that may affect the selection of treatment techniques ensuring treatment is appropriate for you. It is therefore very important that you provide accurate information. All discussions are completely confidential.
Does treatment involve getting undressed?
It is helpful for us to see your spine when assessing you, to examine changes in muscle tone and movement patterns. We offer gowns to allow us to see the spinal area but would also request that you also wear loose fitting or gym style shorts or trousers for your appointments so we can assess mobility more effectively.
Will the treatment hurt?
Examination and treatment is usually painless, but if the area of focus is inflamed and irritable then treatment can be sore. Your Chiropractor will tailor your treatment to your tolerance levels and may use ice before treatment starts in order to help reduce any discomfort.
Some people can experience post-treatment soreness, stiffness, and sometimes headaches. This is temporary
How many treatments do I need?
Following your examination, your Chiropractor will propose an initial plan for care. This is different for each condition and is affected by individual factors including previous injuries, age, smoking, health status and other provoking lifestyle factors.
